Diwali is a festival that is followed by the people of India. There is a significant meaning behind the word Diwali that is the enlightenment of the inner light that is the soul. Deepavali festival is the celebration of the birth of the inner soul and it is also believed that all darkness is outshined and a birth of eternal and pure atman takes place.
The celebration takes place as beautiful decoration is done with flowers, lamps, children fire crackers, and people wear new clothes and share gifts and sweets with each other. It is basically a five day celebration festival which begins from Dhanteras celebration and ends at the festival of Bhai Dooj. The significance of Diwali is that it is celebrated to show the victory of good over evil. According to the English calendar Diwali comes in October or in the month of November. This Indian festival is celebrated on a large scale by many people all over India. Indians who are living in abroad also celebrate this auspicious occasion of Diwali. This day Goddess Laxmi, Lord Ganesha are worshipped. Even lord Kuber is also worshipped on this day.

1. First you need to have all the puja samagri with you that is important ingredients like kappor, coconut, flowers, kumkum, sweets, desi ghee and other important things.
2. Then you need a platform on which a clean cloth is placed so that the diety of Goddess Laxmi can be kept on it. Then place a kalash on that platform.
3. On the kalash keep a little dish which has some grains of rice in it and fill three fourth of the kalash with water.
4. Then Goddess Laxmi is kept on a clean and tidy plate. Then bathe the idol with panchamrita.
5. Then begin with Ganesh puja,chant some mantras and offer flowers and sweets to Lord Ganesha.
6. After this start with Goddess Laxmi puja
7. Then finally end up the puja with Laxmi Aarti.
