The relevance of Navratri festival
The highlights of the festival of Navratri are the Garba and Dandiya in Gujarat, all men, women and children dress themselves in traditional outfits and traditional jewellery. The Indian farmers on this festival thank the goddess for the blessings and pray to her to get better yield. From the historic times, Navratri festival is that it is celebrated to say thanks to the mother Earth who is there to feed us.

The starting three days of this festival are celebrated to offer prayers to Goddess Durga who is known as warrior Goddess and she is known to be dressed in red colored beautiful attire and rides on the Lion. Her different nine forms are worshipped in all these nine days of celebration of the festival. The three forms of Goddess Durga are –Maa parvati, Maa kali and Maa kumara. These three forms are worshipped during the celebration of this festival and they represent the different categories of womanhood which include the girl child, young lady and a mature lady.
After this the other three days are celebrated in dedication of Goddess Lakshmi who is very well known as the Goddess of prosperity and good wealth. She is known to be dressed in golden attire and uses an Owl for her ride.
Then comes the last three days of the festival which are celebrated to dedicate prayers to the Goddess Saraswati , who is again known to be the Goddess who bestows knowledge in the form of blessings to her devotees. She is known to be dressed in pure white attire and sits on a white colored swan.
On this day everybody wears new clothes, sweets are made in all Indian families, and people keep fasts during the celebration of this festival which lasts for all nine days of this festival. This festival is ended on the day of celebration of the festival of Mahanavami, this day kanya pujan is done. This day the nine little girls are treated as the nine forms of the Goddess and are worshipped. The feet of those little girls are washed which is done with an intention of giving respect to the Goddess. People gift them new clothes and many more things. This is a very common ritual that is performed almost in every part of the nation.
This festival of navratri comes two times in a year. It comes in the month of March and the second time it comes in the month of September or October. The navaratri puja is considered very auspicious and has a great importance for the people of India
