Makar Sankaranti 2012 date lays in the month of January, but the date depends on the region of the people. As in the country it is celebrated on two days. People in North India will be celebrating it on 14th of January whereas people in South India will be celebrating is on 15th of January.
Makar Sankranti has a meaning to its name. Sakranti simply refers to change in direction.
